FAQ: How Do I Use GSMU to Link to My Virtual, On-Line Course?
Admins will need to create a New Course from the Courses, Add a Course Classic menu as shown below. If you are editing an existing course to add a link to the on-line course skip to the section, Course Dashboard - Edit Existing Course.
Add a Course
An admin can add a course for their on-line course, by filling in all the required fields, matching the date/time to the date/time of the on-line course and for Location type in Online to remove the Google Map.
For more information on How to Add a Course Go to: https://helpguide.gosignmeup.com/m/2810/l/26123-how-do-i-add-a-course?username=helpguide&password=gsmu
Now add the On-line Course link (GotoWebinar, Zoom, Microsoft Meetings, Google Hangouts, Cisco Webex, etc..) to the course extra text field as shown below. This link will be in the confirmation e-mail that the students will receive once they register for the GSMU course. NOTE: If you need special formatting then enter this in the course dashboard how you want it using HTML for example for a hyperlink or font-size otherwise you can add plain text here.
HTML example for a making a link a hyperlink from the course dashboard (Extra) Additional Text widget (shown below). This is the same area as the Extra Text field in the Course editor on the previous page. Click on 'Save Course Changes' to save.
Course Dashboard - Edit Existing Course to Link to an On-Line Course
To edit your course, go to the course dashboard and add the New location (if not on the dropdown menu) by typing it in for example online, On-Line Webinar, Zoom or Virtual Course. If you type in 'Online' the map will not show up at all.
In the Course Confirmation E-mail widget on the course dashboard, go to the Additional text tab and put the event description here, add the link to the on-line course or media that you want the students to view prior to or the day of the course.
If the link is not showing as a hyperlink, click on the pencil to edit, select the text you want to make a hyperlink and click the Globe symbol (shown below). Click on the Save ICON to save this.
Make sure that you have the CourseExtraText Token in the Course Confirmation E-mail from the Course Grid -> Settings -> Email - Course shown below by adding it from the Tokens dropdown menu and click UPDATE to save.
You can also add the CourseExtraText Token to the Course Reminder E-mail from the Course Grid -> Settings -> Email - Course - Reminder, shown below. You will need to type in the token {CourseExtraText} as it will not show on the dropdown token menu (it was recently added) then click UPDATE to save.
