How Do I Create a Custom Course Completion Certificate?

Click on the Configuration menu

Select System Configuration

Scroll down to the Course Management section

Select Custom Certificate Settings

Custom Certificate Maker

When you first open the Custom Certificate Maker you will see a screen similar to the one above with a blank background and many of the fields active.

You can modify this blank new one if there isn't already one in your system.  Otherwise the system will default to the last modified certificate.

If there is already a certificate in the system and you wish to create a new one, see the step below.

Create New Custom Certificate

If you wish to create a new certificate, click the Select Certificate  (1) under the Actions bar.

Here you can scroll the dropdown (2) or click the Create New Custom Certificate link (3) to start a new certificate, then click OK on the "Are you sure?" dialogue (4).

(If you do not see the "Create New" option you will need to increase the number of allowed certifiates in the System Configuration area,

under Administration Management - For Programmer/Trainer Only see step below)

Increase Number of Allowed Certificates

If you do not see the "Create New" option then let us know and we can increase the number of allowed certificates for you. [email protected]

Click the "Select Certificate to Edit" dropdown menu

Select the newly created Custom Certificate from the list.

Click on the Settings Buttons for the certificate settings

Clicking on Certificate Settings reveals the available fields

Select which fields to display on your certificate.  Check each box to display the field on the certificate.  Un-check to hide.

If you would like to add a line or two of custom text, click one of the Optional Text options - this will create a field that you can then type a custom text message on.

Click Preview when finished.

Upload a background image.

Our example shows a vertical background image, but by default, there is no background image shown for an newly created custom certificate.  To upload your custom background image, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click "Choose File" to select and image file from your computer.  After you've selected your image, click "Upload".  For a blank certificate background that you can then modify for your custom certificate, click the link to the right - Backgrounds for Custom Certificates.  (click to download - right-click Save)

Arrange the fields for your certificate.

Click and drag each filed to move it to the desired location.  You may also resize each box as you desire.  The boxes show the size of the data field in the system  - remember to keep it wide enough for the longest Course or Student name you wish to print.  (Note: If the boxes are confusing or make alignment hard because it is difficult to see thru them, disable the "Show Object Dimension" box under the top menu.  This will eliminate the box and let you manipulate just the field names.)

Double-clicking on a field will reveal additional configuration settings for each individual field.

Optional Text

If you enable the "Optional Text" field, you can double-click it and then type whatever you want in to the box.

PDF Settings

The PDF Settings button on the menu opens an option panel where you can change the Page Layout and PDF Size, as well as Margin settings.

In general, don't change these options, unless you switch from a Vertical to Horizontal background, and need to change the PDF settings to match.

Here is where you should give your Custom Certificate  a unique name in the Description box instead of the default "Custom Certificate" title.

Click Save when finished editing
