How Do I Create and Apply a Coupon
This tutorial will show you how to create a coupon in the admin side, and use the coupon on the public side.
From the home admin screen, select "System Configuration" from the Configuration drop down.
On the next screen, select "Coupons" which is in the Public Management menu box.
Click the "Click here to add a coupon" link to add a coupon.
This screen also shows the coupons that you already have, their start date, expire date, and whether they are automatic or not. You can chose to hide the coupon field so users can't use them at the bottom as well.
Fill in Coupon Information (Pt. 1)
1) Coupon Code - This is where you enter in the code of the coupon that the users will enter in to get the discount. (We will use TEST5 for this example)
2) Coupon Percent Off Amount - The percentage off that you want the discount to be for. (We will use 10% for this example)
3) Coupon Dollar Off Amount - The dollar off amount that you want the discount to be for.
NOTE - You can only use percent off OR dollar amount off. You can not use a combination of the two.
4) Coupon Start Date - The date that this coupon will become active and will be ale to use.
5) Coupon Expires Date - The date that the coupon will expire and can no longer be used.
6) Coupon Reuires Course Purchase - This is where you will choose if you want only certain courses to be eligible for this coupon. You can selct any amount of courses, or if you leave it blank the discount will apply to all courses.

7) One Time Use Coupon - You can choose if this coupon can only be used once per customer, or multiple times.
8) Applies towards cost-extra materials - This option states whether you want the coupon to apply towards the cost of the extra-materials as well as the course or just the course. Examples include reuired textbooks, calculator, class binder, etc....
9) Maximum Order Discount - You have the option to make a maximum value that the coupon can take off, either a certain dollar amount, or percentage of the order.
10) # of Courses in the Order - You can make the coupon only works if they have at least X number of courses in their order.
11)Automatic Coupon - You can make the coupon work automatically if they meet all of the reuirnments for this coupon. Therefore, they wont have to enter in any coupon code.
After you are finished choosing all of the options, click "Add" at the bottom of the page.
The coupon is now in the coupon section page that we viwed earlier
This is where you would come to edit any coupons as well. Just click on the coupon and it will take you to the edit coupon page.
Apply Coupon Code at Checkout Screen (Pt. 1)
At the checkout screen for the student, it shows the ability to enter a coupon and shows you your total. This course is $100, with no coupon the course will cost $100.
Apply Coupon at Checkout Screen (Pt. 2)
When you enter in the coupon code (in this example TEST5), the Discount field shows the amount that the discount is for and the new total includes the price minus the discount. The student can now checkout with the discounted price.
